After working hard to help the Courts hear evidence of abuse of children, endure the rigors of cross examination, Dr. Kathleen Faller had to defend herself for diagnosing and treating those children. Although she is not the only one, certainly she is a most articulate person to discuss this experience and other matters that Social Workers should expect if they work in |
this field. That is the reason we have invited Dr. Faller to Traverse City and invited Clinicians to hear her speak. She can help us understand the high stakes that are involved in remedying the abuse and neglect of children. We who work in this field must learn how to be confident about our work and the testimony we give. |

MAPLE CLINIC IS TWENTY |
|||
|
It was a cold and blustery day when The Maple Clinic opened its doors for business February 1, 1980. Our first clients needed immediate services and were referred by Adult Mental Health. Immediate service was our goal then and continues to be the core of our service program now. We have never had waiting lists. |
We accomplished this by adding therapists to our staff each time others fill up. We started with just two therapists in 1980 and today we have thirteen therapists plus our consultant. In 1990 we opened a satellite office in Kalkaska to accommodate clients who live in mid/eastern parts of Michigan. |
